Our aim is to engage our audience with universal stories that speak to the human experience and challenge conversation, to support local artists, to provide arts education to children of all ages, and to foster a new generation of theater arts participants and supporters.

STC pursues its mission by producing the following:

--Full-scale theatre productions, musical and dramatic, as well as cabarets and other alternative performance styles

--Professional (i.e. paid) opportunities for artistic members of the community

--Performing arts classes and workshops for young children, teens and adults

--Partnerships with area Youth Organizations for additional arts education opportunities

--Opportunities for underprivileged members of the community through various means, including scholarships for qualifying students and affordable ticket prices for all shows.

BOARD COMMITTEES

Committees help maximize the board’s productivity by matching members with particular expertise to appropriate areas. They allow members to engage with issues more deeply and consistently than the board could as a whole. Committees can research and break down complex issues and present their findings to the board, which can then move forward to making decisions.

Executive Committee: Comprised of board officers, the committee oversees operations of the board; acts on behalf of the board during on-demand activities that occur between meetings and performs annual evaluations of staff and board members.

Finance Committee: Oversees development of the budget; ensures accurate tracking/monitoring/accountability for funds; ensures adequate financial controls; recommends financial guidelines; and outlines fundraising needs.

Development Committee: Oversees development and implementation of the organization’s fundraising plan; identifies and solicits funds from external sources of support, responsible for involvement of all board members in fundraising.

Marketing Committee: Oversees the development and implementation of the marketing plan and the management of publicity, media relations, and advertising.

Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Committee: Guides the work of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility at Street Theatre Company. Creates and oversees the implementation of the IDEA strategic plan.

ClassAct Dramatics Committee: Supports the Executive Artistic Director with the operations and coordination of the ClassAct Dramatics youth program.

Events and Volunteers Committee: Oversees the recruitment and coordination of volunteers needed for performances and events. Oversees the planning and implementation of events such as fundraisers and other special events and performances.

TIME COMMITMENT

--Each director is asked to commit to one three-year term.

--Directors may request a one-year extension after the expiration of each term.

--Each director is expected to serve on at least one committee, which will work in between board meetings. Committees typically meet monthly for approximately one hour in person, via telephone conference, or virtually.
